Out-the-door price calculator
The sticker price is not what you pay. Type in the lines from your quote and see the total you would actually owe, before any loan.
Out-the-door total
Type the vehicle price to start.
- Price after trade-in and rebates
- Amount taxed
- Sales tax
- Fees
- Tax plus fees

Dex: Ask for the out-the-door number in writing, line by line. If a line will not match this sheet, that line is your question.
What is in an out-the-door price
- Vehicle price
- What you and the dealer agreed the car sells for, before tax and fees.
- Sales tax
- Tax on the sale. You type the rate, because it depends on where you register the car.
- Dealer doc fee
- What the dealer charges to handle the paperwork. Ask for the exact amount and get it in writing.
- Title and registration
- The government fees to put the car in your name and get plates.
- Everything else
- Delivery charges and add-ons such as coatings, etching or service plans. Each one should be a line you can say yes or no to.
How to use it with a real quote
- Ask the dealer for an itemized quote: one line per charge.
- Type each line in here. Use the tax rate printed on the quote.
- Compare your total to the quote's total.
- Any line that does not match, or that you cannot explain, is a question to ask before you sign.
Why your total might not match the quote
- The quote taxes a different amount. Flip the two tax switches and see if the total moves.
- A fee is on the quote that you did not type in, or one you typed is not on it.
- An add-on was bundled into the price instead of listed on its own line.
- This page leaves out loan interest. A loan adds to what you pay over time. To compare leasing and buying, use the lease vs buy calculator.
The tool runs in your browser. The numbers you type are not sent anywhere.
